Rodd Snook
While completing a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Rodd came to the realisation that his true calling was actually in the IT industry. He claims that this revelation came to him whilst fiixing a printer for a fellow student at 3 a.m. and finding that he was actually enjoying himself. We think that administering computer networks on a volunteer basis since the age of twelve should have tipped him off sooner.
Since his late-night epiphany, Rodd has made a career out of using technology to solve people's problems. Initially this took the form of system administration in Unix, Linux, VMS and Windows environments for a number of clients - including the ABC. However, after moving to London in late 1999, Rodd fell into a web development role at the height of the '.co.uk' bubble. After an initial 'trial by fire' as technical lead on a large e-commerce project, he developed his skills working on a variety of projects from on-line dating to major corporate sites.
Since joining Glass Onion 5 years ago, Rodd has played a key role in the continued improvement of the re:fract and re:ceive products and in delivering highly functional custom designed solutions to clients such as: Pizza Hut, KFC, Hillross Financial Services, Signature Security Group and Nestlé. He enjoys bringing his analytical mind to bear on complex problems of integration, optimisation and information security.
When not looking through the Glass Onion, Rodd likes to relax by sampling new boutique beers, watching quirky TV on his home-built PVR and scratching his cat behind the ears. He also likes to cook for his wife and friends and wishes that his lifestyle provided more opportunities for fishing.
